Saying they had been misled by a television anchor who told them so, residents of the northwestern Chinese city of Hefei were reportedly unaware Thursday that the reason they were protesting Tiananmen Square was because their government knew absolutely nothing about the rulers of the ancient Ming dynasty.

“This is absolutely crazy,” said Hefei, adding that he had been told by a local man claiming to be a government official that the reason they were protesting Tiananmen Square was because the current leader, who they believed to be the Great Han Yong, had been killed by the son of the new leader.
“They said the old regime was just behind the protests, but what they didn’t realize was that I was actually behind it all along. I was just doing my job.” At press time, residents of the city confirmed that they knew perfectly well what the problem was, since they had been following the story closely.
